Handover can be initiated by the active or by the passive interpreter.

You need to agree who initiates the handover in advance before interpretation starts.

    By the active interpreter

    The active interpreter can:
-send a quick message “I am ready for handover” or “Please take over”
-give a hand gesture on video to take over
-mute the RSI microphone and speak to the passive interpreter during a pause

    By the passive interpreter

    The passive interpreter can:
-send a quick message “I am ready for handover”
-give a hand gesture on video to take over
-mute RSI microphone and speak to the active interpreter during a pause

Any other way to handover would be acceptable as long as interpreters coordinate that in advance.

Important: remember to mute your microphone in your RSI event if you are not interpreting. The microphone in ICP may stay current on all the time.
