When the interpreter enters the interpreter console, your microphone will be turned off by default for security.

You may keep your microphone on all the times during the event because if your boothmates do not want to hear you, they will be able to turn off your audio in their own consoles (“mute boothmates” button).

That is why there is no need to constantly turn the microphone on in InterStar ICP when you start your shift, or turn it off when you’re done with your shift.

Obviously, if your microphone is turned on you should still be quiet not to disturb you boothmates.
